How To Prepare For A Brazilian Wax

How To Prepare For A Brazilian Wax

Like most girls, I thought razor was the only option I have when I want to remove unwanted hair. It’s cheap and fairly accessible but the results I get are very annoying. After every shave, I either get a pimple, ingrown hair, and a dark stubble — or a combination of these three. On top of this, I suffer from razor burn, rashes, and cuts especially when dealing with my private area.

Enter Brazilian wax.

This hair removal is heaven sent! Although I can’t deny the fact that I got very nervous the first time I had it. Does it hurt a lot? What benefits will I get out of it? How do I prepare myself for my first wax? These are just some of the questions before I had Brazilian wax. Like you, I was hesitant at first but when I saw the significant differences it brought to me and my underarms, I don’t want to go back to shaving again. And that’s why I want to share this service with you guys. Trust me, if you want to go bare down there, Brazilian wax is the answer!

What Is Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian wax is perhaps the most popular type of bikini wax. It leaves your vagina (and anus) completely hairless. It uses hot wax, soft wax, waxing strips, sugaring, sugar wax, or a combination of two or three waxes.

It was introduced in 1987 to New York by seven Brazilian-native siblings a.k.a. J Sisters. Basically, it rips off the entire hair in the inner and outer part of labia, perineum, and up to the butt crack; however, there are some women who prefers to leave a small landing strip or a triangle-shaped hair in front.

Despite the techniques, Brazilian wax may still provide a bit of discomfort however, those who have had it claims that it’s worth the pain — and I can vouch for this. This hair removal method leaves the skin smoother and softer and the results are different compared to shaving and depilatory hair removal creams.

Brazilian Wax Vs Shaving Vs Depilatory Cream

These three are the top hair removal method that most women use nowadays. Here’s a quick comparison of waxing, shaving, and depilatory cream.

When it comes to pain, waxing is the most painful hair removal method especially if it’s your first time. But, after a few sessions (and once the pubic hair becomes finer and lighter), you’ll get used to it. Shaving and hair removing cream, on the other hand, are completely painless.

Brazilian wax rips of the hair from the root, thus making it painful. However, this is the reason why the hair grows back lighter; sometimes, patches of hair may not even grow back again anymore. Meanwhile, razors and hair removal creams only deal with the upper layer of the hair, which often leaves a dark stubble. Also, with depilatory creams, you need to apply it evenly on the skin otherwise, the hair will not be completely removed. Some part of your skin may still have fuzz while the other parts are bald. Eek! With razors, you have to gently shave the skin or you may end up having cuts. This is a bit challenging when you want to remove hair from the anus or inner part of your labia.

Waxing doesn’t make the skin darker, unlike shaving and depilatory skin. It even exfoliates, revealing a smoother, softer skin.

Hair grows finer and slower with waxing. Since it is removed from the roots, you can see visible hair again after a couple of weeks, or even months depending on the person’s hair cycle growth. Shaving and hair removal creams are almost the same — the hair grows back in just a couple of days and the worse part is — it’s thicker and itchy!
Waxing it a bit expensive compared to the two — shaving and hair removal cream. Our rate is around $30 to $75 and although it’s not the cheapest, we assure you that every penny is worth! We take pride in our service, therapist, and the wax we use so if you want to have your first Brazilian wax or you’re looking for a new waxing salon, our place is definitely your best option.

How To Prepare For A Brazilian Wax?

We get it, you’re either nervous or too shy — or even both! That’s fine, we’ve had the same feelings too back when it’s my first time to have a Brazilian wax. Before getting a wax, the first thing you have to remember is that you’re dealing with a complete professional. We may be strangers but we assure you that we keep things in private and that we are trained to do this. There’s no need to be shy, we’ve seen a lot more than what you can imagine and trust us, there’s nothing to be ashamed about.

Here are a few things you need to take note of before getting a Brazilian wax:

Grow Your Hair First

If you’ve used a razor to remove your hair, wait for at least two to three weeks or until it’s quarter-inch long before booking an appointment. This will be long enough for the wax to grip firmly, thus it’s easier to remove.

Pop A Pain Reliever
Taking a painkiller an hour before having a Brazilian wax will minimize the discomfort you will feel during the session. Alternative: You can down a glass of your favorite wine to give you the guts and relaxation you need.

Wear A Dress Or Skirt

You will be asked to remove your pants so the procedure can go on smoothly and quickly but if you want to have a few coverage left, what you can do is wear a skirt or a dress. This way, all you need is to pull it up before your therapist does her thing.

Prepare Things To Talk About

You’ll want to divert your thoughts somewhere else, and one easy way is to talk to your therapist. You can also practice deep breathing beforehand since you can this during the session.

Keep In Mind That It’ll Hurt

It’s like getting a tattoo or your first piercing — it will hurt, yes it will. But this is only for the first time. This is because the pore is smaller than the bulb of your hair. As you continue your Brazilian waxing session, the bulb will become smaller and the hair will be lighter, and it will not be as painful as before.

Prepare To Do A Bit Of Yoga

Okay, maybe we’ve exaggerated a little bit but expect to do awkward positions during the hair removal method. The therapist will take off hair from the inner and other part of your vagina, perineum, and the crack so more or less, you need to give our professional the right access. Don’t worry, it will be swift and gently.

The Waxing Process

Here at Waxing By Celeste, we use a combination of hot wax, soft wax, and sugar wax. We do this to effectively remove hair on specific areas. Like the regular waxing process, we start by applying a small amount of talcum powder to the skin. This will keep the hot wax from adhering to the skin’s surface. We use strong swift motion to reduce the discomfort; however, if you feel like the pain is too much, you can ask our therapist to apply wax or waxing strips to smaller area, one at a time. Otherwise, you can ask them to stop if the pain is unbearable.

As mentioned, all the hair in your vagina will be removed — from the front going to the back. No hair will escape our highly-experienced therapist! To do this effectively, we may ask you to do pull the skin or shift position for easy access.

How To Reduce Pain In Brazilian Waxing

Waxing is painful, there’s no doubt about that but it can be reduced with the right technique and by following a few of these tips:

If it’s your first time to waxing, it’s best to have a regular bikini wax first before getting a Brazilian wax. This will help you get used to waxing and somehow alleviate the pain during the session.

It’s best to book an appointment for at least a week or two after your menstruation. This is the time when your skin is less sensitive; however, you can always get a Brazilian wax even on your period. Just be sure to keep your intimate area clean and wear a tampon. Also, get ready to feel a bit more of discomfort.

You can have a Brazilian wax even if you’re pregnant. There are expectant moms visiting us on their first, second, or third trimester. If you’re planning to have your pubic hair done but you’re kind of hesitant, you can always give us a call or visit us to answer your concerns.

Book an appointment after three or four weeks. Having a regular waxing session can help in reducing the pain.
Avoid shaving the area and visit a waxing salon instead. If you go back to razor, the hair will grow back thicker again. This will make waxing as painful as before.

After waxing, avoid any activity that can irritate the skin, such as yoga, rough sex, and sweaty workouts. You should also avoid swimming for at least three days as this may cause irritation and infection.
Exfoliate the skin after a week to remove bumps and ingrown hairs. Use a gentle scrub and a cleanser or lotion with alpha hydroxy acid to remove dead skin cells and redness of the skin.

What Does A Brazilian Wax Include?

What Does A Brazilian Wax Include?

If you want to bare it all ‘down there’ and go for a Brazilian wax, then you might be wondering if what does a Brazilian wax include. It is a very popular waxing procedure for the nether part that will leave your skin totally hairless and very smooth. If you are a beginner, it is recommended that you start with the regular bikini wax first, but we always recommend a Brazilan wax. It’s like dipping your toe in the water but if you think you can dive in and try the Brazilian, here are the things included in the treatment.

Things To Expect

Most of the Brazilian waxing treatments happen in a private room where you will be left alone to strip bare from your waist down. You will then lie on the table and be given a paper thong or towel with the purpose of making you feel more comfortable.

However, your integrity will be fully tested because the waxer will be going to see every nook and cranny of your most intimate part. But there is nothing to be so ashamed really because estheticians are also professionals who have seen it all before. You can think of a Brazilian waxing no more than your usual visit to your dentist or doctor.

Preparation You Can Do

If there is one thing that any kind of waxing requires a certain length of hair for the wax to get a stronghold. The general rule of thumb is to have your pubic hair to be at a fourth of an inch or about the length or a minimum of two weeks hair length. Any hair shorter than that will be too hard for the wax to take hold and pull out. So, if your hair is not long enough, your appointment will be cancelled and you’ll be sent back home.

Similarly, your hair should not be too long as it will be more painful to pull it out from the root. This is why the esthetician has to trim your pubic hair if they see that it’s too long enough and cut it down to the sufficient hair length.

What Does A Brazilian Wax Conver

Unlike a bikini wax which includes waxing your bikini line only, a Brazilian wax involves hair removal from your entire nether region. It will remove everything down from the pubic area, the labia, bikini line and anus, leaving your skin completely hair-free and smooth. So, yes, you can think of it as a very delicate procedure that involves the following steps:

The esthetician will wear gloves prior to touching the waxing tools and will use fresh sticks for every application and must never ever double-dip them into the melting wax. Your waxer will begin in your front part while moving its way towards your backside. Before any waxing starts, make sure to tell your esthetician if you prefer to have a landing strip or you want a complete bare.

If your waxer considers soft wax, you can expect the professional to apply some powder to your skin as a way to prevent the hot wax from sticking.
Next is for the waxer to dip the wooden stick into the pot where the hot wax is being melted. The wax will then be spread thinly over your skin in the same direction of your hair growth.

What comes next is for the waxer to place a cloth strip over the wax while pressing it firmly down for your hair to stick into. Once it cooled off, the strip will be pulled off in the opposite direction of your hair in a swift motion, removing your hairs by their roots. In case you can’t bear the pain or if you need some short breaks from the stinging sensation, you are free to tell your waxer.

Once all your hairs at the front are removed, with some left if you prefer a landing strip, the waxer will then go over to the in-between of your butt cheeks. In other words, in your anus where there are some stray hairs growing in there as well. In order for the professional to remove every strand of your hair from everywhere, you might be asked to make different positions where it will be accessible for the waxer to reach every area.

While you may feel a bit awkward or embarrassed, the good thing is that the anus is the least painful part for most clients. When the waxing on and off has been over, the esthetician will remove any stray hairs left or leave some for the design you want. And if you want, you can even try to have the landing strip dyed. To finally end the entire procedure, the waxer may use a soothing lotion over the treated area to help relieve any discomfort you may have felt.

Why You Need To Have Regular Brazilian Waxing

Now that you know what is included in a Brazilian waxing procedure, the next thing you should know is the importance of having it done on a regular basis. In general, pubic hair regrowth takes about 3 to 6 weeks, this is why you are expected to visit your waxer on the same timeframe regularly if you want to enjoy better and longer-lasting results.

Moreover, the pain becomes less and less each time you visit your esthetician and the time interval needed in between each of your Brazilian wax session becomes longer. Better yet, your hair regrowth becomes thinner and sparser.

The exact time you need to go for another waxing session depends on your hair type. The best time to go is when your hair reaches the required length. If your hair is coarser or if it does not grow that fast, it may take a bit longer than usual.

Finally, don’t forget to choose the best professional waxer whom you can trust to give you the best result every time you visit the salon or spa. In this way, you don’t have to show your most private part to another stranger.

How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Last?

How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Last?

Whether it’s beach time or not, Brazilian waxing has just become a thing… no matter how painful it looks and sounds like. However, this doesn’t mean that everyone’s having it. Some are still either scared or too shy to try this hair removal method and no one can blame them. After all, your hair is ripped off completely by a stranger… but I don’t want to make it sound more terrifying as it already is.

I mean, a Brazilian wax is surprisingly tolerable as how most people would describe it. Yes, there might be a bit of discomfort but that could be relieved by a painkiller. Also, it doesn’t last and you can go back to your normal routine in an instant. Also, you’ll be handled by a professional who’s done this more than once. On top of that, there are a few aftercare tips you can use to make it last longer and to avoid irritation and inflammation, so there’s really nothing to worry about. I know I got your attention already so if you want to know more about this grooming trend, just keep on reading.

What Is A Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian wax is a kind of wax service that removes the hair in and around the vagina and the anus. The esthetician may use hot wax, soft wax, wax strip, or a sugaring or a combination of these methods. Some people may want to leave a few areas bare and a mini landing strip but originally, this method is supposed to take all the hair off completely, the true Brazilian way.

The Brazilian wax has become a beauty trend that some women just can’t live without. It comes with a number of benefits, after all, that cannot be neglected. But despite its popularity, there are still who have little to no knowledge about it so to answer a few concerns, here are some questions that you guys frequently ask.

Brazilian Wax Frequently Asked Questions

What Is The Difference Between Bikini Wax And Brazilian Wax

As the name suggests, bikini waxing only takes away the hair around the bikini area. It doesn’t remove the entire fuzz in your Lady Garden. Brazilian waxing, on the other hand, is a hair removal method that rips all of the hair in the vagina, perineum, and anus.

Some of our clients are confused about this but we are always here to talk about what you want. When in doubt simply tell your esthetician what you want off and what you want to keep. You can call us for inquiries or head over to our website to book an appointment.

How Long Should The Hair Be For Brazilian Waxing?

If it’s too long, it will be too painful but if it’s too short, it will be a little tricky to pull it out. I recommend that you grow it for at least ¼ inch or 3 weeks minimum. If it’s your first time, you may visit us three weeks after shaving. Nonetheless, we have to use the right technique and a combination of waxes (soft wax, hard wax, and sugar wax) to ensure that all the hair will be removed.

To achieve smoother skin and finer hair, it’s ideal to have at least three waxing sessions first. Also, avoid using a razor to remove pubic hair as this will only encourage hair growth again — and we all know what happens after shaving the hair. It grows back thicker!

How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Last?

Typically, it lasts for about 3 to 6 weeks after the first Brazilian wax but then again, it depends on the person’s hair growth cycle. For some people, the hair may slowly grow back again after a week or two and may become more visible after three to four weeks.

The temperature also affects hair growth. During hot weather or summer, the hair grows faster compared to winter.

Like other beauty treatments, it requires regular sessions to achieve optimal results. Therefore, if you want a finer hair — or even a lesser hair growth — all you need to do is book an appointment with us now!

How Long Does Brazilian Waxing Take?

For first-timers, waxing may take a little longer, about 30 minutes; it also depends on the density of the hair growth. After a few sessions, it will only take around 30 minutes or less. Some places will rush you and do your Brazilian wax in 15 minutes or less. That is not really how we do things here. We take our time to get every single last hair and then we usually tweeze too. A Brazilian wax price is not usually cheap and to left with hair is unacceptable. Our Brazilian wax service is different since we do use a combination of soft wax, hard wax, and sugar wax to ensure you leave hairless. You might see some waxing spas that only use soft wax or hard wax, but in reality, all three types of wax have its pros and cons. We take advantage of their pros of each wax to get you the best Brazilian wax possible and our Brazilian wax reviews reflect the appreciate from our clients.

Is Brazilian Wax Painful?

We cannot deny the fact that waxing provides discomfort; however, it’s not as painful as what it seems — and most clients can attest to that. If you’re having doubts or if it’s your first, what you can do is take a painkiller before the session or go for bikini wax first just to know what it feels like. Bikini waxing will only remove a few hairs so it’s quicker and less painful. Someone who has experience will also know the proper technique to help reduce pain. Someone new will usually not have the experience to do the Brazilian effect and efficient. Another thing to consider the wax. We use a sugar wax for the majority part of the service since it sticks more the hair than your skin.

At Waxing By Celeste, every esthetician has been fully trained, experienced, and knowledgeable. They’ve learned the right waxing techniques to come out with fast and effective results. But to give you a heads up, the most painful area would be the pubic bone area while the least painful one is the area around the anus.

If you have more questions, feel free to give us a call and we’re more than willing to attend to your concerns.

Will Waxing Result To A Thicker, Darker Hair?

Nope. Absolutely, no. Unlike shaving, waxing removes the root of the hair follicles and over time, you may even notice that the fuzz in your vagina is not coarse or dark. After your first or second waxing session, you can easily notice that the hair is finer and quite sparse. However, the result may be affected by several factors such as hormones, hair growth cycle, temperature, or if you forgot and shaved it again.

When Is The Best Time To Have A Brazilian Wax?

The best time to have a Brazilian wax is after a week or so of your menstrual cycle when the skin is less sensitive. Also, be sure to have enough sleep and avoid nicotine, caffeine, and even stress as this can make your skin more sensitive, thus making it more painful during waxing.

Can You Have A Brazilian Wax On A Period?

In line with the statement above, you can still book for an appointment during your menstruation. It’s fine and safe; just be sure to wear a tampon for hygiene purposes. There’s really no problem when it comes to Brazilian waxing and period — in fact, the “pain” level is almost the same as when you don’t have your monthly visitor. You can even have a Brazilian wax even when you’re pregnant.

How Much Is A Brazilian Wax

How Much Is A Brazilian Wax

Self-grooming is like a new norm once puberty hits. A lot of things has changed and that includes growing hair in the armpit, legs, and even the Lady Garden. It’s frustrating but not most of us can do anything much about it. There are options though, like shaving.

Using a razor is one of the most popular hair removal methods. It’s cheap, easy-to-use, and available almost any time. In just a few swipes, the hair is gone! But is it really what you want for your hair, particularly for your skin? After all, it’s no secret how it leaves razor burns and pimples afterward.

If you’re tired of the hullabaloos happening after every shave, maybe it’s time to consider waxing.

How Much Does A Brazilian Wax Cost?

The price for this hair removal service depends on several factors such as the type of wax you are getting, your gender, the type of facility you are going in, the location, and more. In the US, the price for bikini waxing starts at $30 up to $60.

This means that two neighborhood waxing salon will have a different price; one may offer a more affordable rate for their services while the other one, which has a high-end facility, may charge a higher price for their luxurious service.

Licensed professionals price their service based their expertise, experience, and cost of materials. The rate also depends on the market they want to target, overhead costs, products used and since this is a business, they need to earn out of it, too.

Here at Waxing By Celeste, our price begins at $45, but we do offer new client deals too. Pricing for Brazilians can be funny since we have seen some wax salons charge pasted on how much hair the clients has, some charge based on how long the hair is and some even charge more for bigger women and we’ve had clients come in who where charges a different price because of race, which we find totally unacceptable. One price for everyone regardless of size, hair length, amount of hair or race! We may not be the cheapest nor most expensive waxing salon in San Diego, but we guarantee that you get your money’s worth. Also, we’re known for our waxing technique that minimizes pain during the session. Instead of using one type of wax, we use three wax — soft wax, hard wax, and sugar wax — to effectively remove the fuzz while reducing discomfort.

You can check the feedback from our previous clients via our online reviews to know more about our services and experience people have at our spa.

What Is Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian wax is a hair removal method that is considered by many women. Despite the pain associated with it, a lot of them still swore to this. This meant booking a regular appointment and never returning to shaving again as much as possible.

Many people confused it with bikini wax but the truth is, these are two different things. Bikini wax, as the name suggests, only removes the hair around the bikini line. Brazilian wax, on the other hand, removes all the hair in your intimate part, including the inner and outer labia and anus. While it originally means going fully bare, there are women who wanted to leave a mini landing strip or a triangle-shaped hair in front. If you’re planning to have this, always tell your esthetician before the session starts.

Quick Trivia:

Brazilian wax was introduced to the United States by 7 Brazilian sisters in 1987.

What You Need To Prepare Before Brazilian Wax

If you use razors just because you don’t want to see your pubic hair growing out, having a Brazilian wax can be a little challenging. For the wax to stick to your hair, we need you to grow it at around quarter of an inch. That means ditching your razor for a couple of weeks or more.

If you feel like your fuzz is very long, don’t worry! While you can trim it alone at home, we advise that you let our expert handle it in our waxing salon.

Ask Around

The Internet is a perfect place to know things but it’s still better if you can talk to the people you know. Look for friends who have done it and ask how badly it hurt. You might be surprised knowing that you’re almost the last person to get it. Take this time to also ask for their referral. Is there a specific waxing salon that they can recommend?

Drink A Glass Of Wine Or Pop An Ibuprofen

Spoiler Alert: Brazilian wax is going to hurt! And that’s what makes it extra beautiful. Imagine all the pain that you will go through only to end up with a hair-free, super smooth skin! If you want to reduce the pain, what you can do is down a glass of wine — darling, a glass of wine only, not a bottle or take a painkiller an hour before the session. This will minimize the comfort. You may also go for a bikini wax instead in case you’re not yet ready or you just want to test the water first.

Keep It Clean Down There

This is a no-brainer advice but still worth sharing. When cleaning your vagina, use warm water to wash it and be sure to skip moisturizers, cream, lotion, and the like. You can also take some wipes with you so you can keep yourself clean and fresh in case you need to wait for your appointment to start.

Aftercare Tips

After having your Brazilian wax, your therapist will give you an advice about what you should and should not do. But to give you a heads up, here are some of the things you should remember:

* Do not workout or do activities that will make you sweat within 24 hours.
* Keep the area clean and dry to avoid infection.
* Do not go to a sauna, steam, or jacuzzi.
* Take a cold shower in case of a hot bath; however, only do this after 4 hours or so.
* Do not have rough sex as this may cause friction which may irritate your already-inflamed skin.
* Exfoliate the skin after three days or a week to get rid of ingrown hairs.

Is Brazilian Waxing Worth The Hype?

With all these women swearing to Brazilian waxing (and vowing to never go back to shaving again), is it really worth the hype? Moreover, is it really worth the pain?

Personally, I could say that it’s worth the price and pain as long as you have the right esthetician. A licensed esthetician knows how to apply the correct force and technique. Also, waxing has a lot of benefits that you can enjoy the latter part, such as exfoliation. During the session, you’re not only having your hair removed, but it also gets rid of lifeless skin cells and the results? A smoother, hair-free skin.

As you continue your session, you’ll also notice that the hair is finer and may even grow at a slower rate. Some can see visible hair after a couple of weeks while others can enjoy the results for a month.

Brazilian Wax: Everything You Need To Know

Brazilian Wax: Everything You Need To Know

Everything You Need To Know

Brazilian wax has a bittersweet reputation in the beauty industry. While it’s an effective hair removal method, it’s also known for being painful — and this is what drives most women away. Truth be told, it really provides discomfort but as what most of my clients would say, it’s not as dreadful as it sounds. Yep, a hot wax will be applied in your Lady Gardens and yep, a strong, swift motion will be used to rip off your pubic hair. But it either be resolved with a painkiller or a glass of wine. Also, it gets better as you go on with your waxing session.

If you want to what Brazilian waxing is about, its advantages and disadvantages, who should get it, and more, just sit back, relax, and enjoy reading.

What Is Brazilian Wax

Most of us probably know the concept of waxing — it’s removing the hair using a hot wax, soft wax, sugar wax, or a waxing strip. When it comes to the intimate area, a bikini wax is the most popular choice. Basically, it means taking off the hair around the panty line.

A Brazilian wax is almost the same; however, it removes the entire hair. From the vagina lips down to the butt crack, all the fuzz will be removed by our friendly certified esthetician — and this is what makes the method more painful. That’s why we recommend trying our bikini wax first if it’s your first time. But if you’re a daredevil or you just want all the hair to be gone, then this is the right choice!

While Brazilian wax means removing the entire hair in your vagina, you can ask our therapist to leave a small amount of hair, perhaps a mini landing strip or a triangle-shaped fuzz.

History

Some people think that Brazilian wax, as the name suggests, originated in Brazil but that was wrong. Instead, it was invented in New York by seven Brazilian siblings — thus the name. In the 1980’s, J sisters — Jocely, Jonice, Janea, Joyce, Juracy, Jussara, and Judeseia — established a salon in Manhattan, offering nail services and pioneering Brazilian waxing.

Who Should Get It

During puberty, a lot of changes happen and one of which is growing a bush on the nether regions. As much as we want to get rid of it, it cannot happen easily. Of course, there are razors that are easily accessible and pretty economical; however, that means being okay with razor burns, bumps, ingrown hair, and even cuts. Then there is laser hair removal method, which is less painful than waxing; however, that means being all right with spending a lot of cash despite the semi-permanent results. Waxing, perhaps, is one of the better options because it offers a lot of benefits and longer results compared to shaving and is cheaper compared to laser treatments.

If you’re under 18 and you want to get a Brazilian wax, you can have it in our salon. We accommodate minors in our waxing salon as long as there’s a parent present with them. We understand that waxing is more than just the aesthetic side, it’s about hygiene, too.

Brazilian wax is best for those who want to wear skimpy swimsuits. Whether it’s for a vacation, a bachelorette party, etc., I understand how you want to rock that bikini and that means removing unwanted hair that might peek outside your swimwear. Just make sure to book an appointment at least three days before your trip.

We also recommend this hair removal method for brides-to-be, moms, or those who want to make sexy time a lot sexier. C’mon, we’re all adults here right! A lot of my mom clients lose confidence after giving birth but claim to have their new-found confidence after waxing. It did not only boost their sex life but also restored their self-esteem.

It’s also best for those who want to have a softer, smoother skin. Brazilian waxing does not only remove hair but also exfoliate the skin, and we will discuss more of that later.

First Time Tips

Grow The Hair At Least ¼ Inch Long
Most women think that they need to shave their pubic hair before a bikini wax but, wrong! Wax cannot grip properly to your bush if it’s too short. On the other hand, if it’s too long, it will be too painful when waxed. But if you’re not sure about the length, it’s better if you leave it as it is. Our therapist will take care of it so there’s nothing to worry about. Normally, we will trim your hair before the session.

Determine What Kind Of Wax You Want
Waxing the intimate area is not just about taking the entire hair off. You can choose from a variety of styles. For instance, you only want to take care of the bikini line, then you can opt for a simple bikini wax; if you want to go deeper down the panty line, you can go for a full bikini wax; if you want to remove the hair from the vagina, to the perineum, and down the anus, you can opt for a Brazilian wax. You can also ask for a small landing strip, a star-shaped hair, or whatever style you want. Just be sure that you talk to your therapist beforehand.

Take Note: Every salon has their own names for their menu. To make things clearer, discuss what you want or how much hair you want to be removed rather than give the names. For instance, not all waxing salons know what “The Desert Island” is.

The Right Timing
If you want to reduce the pain during the waxing session, you should remember that the time of the month matters. Book an appointment three days before your menstruation because your skin is not as sensitive as it is when you have a monthly visitor.
However, you can still have a Brazilian wax even when you have a period. You just need to deal with a bit more of discomfort. Also, be sure to keep the area clean by bringing wet wipes and wearing a tampon.

Clean The Area Properly

This is common sense but still, it’s worth reminding. This will make you less conscious about yourself and at the same time, your therapist will surely appreciate it. Aside from hygienic purposes, it’s important to clean the area to reduce the pain. Use warm water and a gentle soap to open the pores and make the waxing session easier.

Take Note: Do not use a cream or lotion on the area as this may make the skin or hair slippery.

Take A Painkiller

The pros will apply a swift, strong pressure to remove the hair, and this will make the waxing less painful and quicker. However, you will still feel a slight discomfort especially if it’s your first time. To minimize the pain, you can pop a pain reliever an hour before the session or down a glass of wine.

Wear A Skirt Or A Dress

To make Brazilian waxing easier, we recommend that you wear a dress or a skirt on that day. Our esthetician will ask you to take all the clothes down there so if you want to cover yourself a little bit, what you can do is follow this simple clothing guideline. If it’s time to start the session, at least all you have to do is pull the skirt up.

Factors That Could Affect The Pain Level

For some people, waxing is not very painful even if it’s their first time. It depends on their pain tolerance and other factors such as the thickness and coarseness of the hair. Nonetheless, it hurts no matter what. There’s no such thing as zero pain when it comes to waxing unless your hair is extremely thin or you’ve used a numbing cream beforehand — which is a big no-no as this will not let the wax properly stick to the hair.

Do Not Be Shy

Brazilian waxing involves spreading the legs, getting in awkward positions, and a stranger getting up-close and personal. This is required so they can have better access on all the spots to remove the hair effectively. Don’t be shy. I know this is easier said than done but that’s the way it is. After all, this stranger is a professional. She’s seen more than what you can think off and has given the same hair removal method a thousand times. They are trained to do this job so there’s nothing to worry about.

What Happens During Brazilian Wax

Before the session begins, our therapist will wear a pair of gloves for hygienic purpose. She will then apply a hard wax on specific areas and wait for it to harden before it’s removed. We also use a soft wax on particular spots; this will a strip of cloth to be placed over a wax before it’s taken off. On other areas, we use our very own sugar wax on a few places. To make the session less painful, our esthetician will hold the skin (or will ask you to do it) so she can remove the wax quickly and properly. She will continue doing this until all the hair for your preferred bikini waxing style is removed.

If you are getting a bikini wax, you may be asked to put your knees to your chest so she can have better access to your anus. This is a little awkward especially if it’s your first time but then again, she has done this a lot of times. The only thing that matters to our certified estheticians is to rip off every single hair in all nooks and crannies.

Tweezing Time!

If you’ve done underarm waxing before, you should know that wax may not be enough to remove all the hair. This is because the wax should not be applied many times in the same area, otherwise, it can damage the skin and may be very painful even after the session.

To clean all the hair up, tweezers will be used. A soothing lotion will then be applied to the skin to reduce redness, inflammation, and itchiness. After the waxing, your skin is still red and very sensitive so it’s best to wear a loose underwear to avoid irritation. The good news is — the redness will go away after a few hours!

Aftercare

Many women ask what to do after a Brazilian Wax? Now that you’ve conquered one of life’s biggest challenges, yet, you’re ready to enjoy a smooth, hair-free bikini area. The next challenge would be keeping the skin soft, smooth, and pinkish!

Although a bikini wax may still result in ingrown hairs and irritation, there are ways on how to avoid it. Basically, it depends on the person’s hair type and skin. Some have very thick and curly hair, which is prone to ingrown hair while there are those with sensitive skin, which can get irritated easily even with the slightest amount of friction. Nonetheless, here are some tips you should consider after a Brazilian wax:

Limit Sun Exposure

Or better yet, avoid it completely for at least 2-3 days after the session or once the redness is gone. Waxing exfoliates the skin, which removes lifeless skin cells; however, this also makes the skin more sensitive and easier to get burnt. As a result, dark skin spots or hyperpigmentation may occur.

Wear Loose Clothing

To avoid upsetting your skin, avoid skintight clothing and touching the skin. This will only cause irritation and possibly, ingrown hair. Personally, it still fascinates me whenever I see my newly-waxed skin; it’s hairless and soft and tempting to touch but we all know that our hands touch and does almost everything, making it prone to germs and bacteria — and we don’t want those things to dwell on our freshly-waxed bikini area, right?

Avoid Steam And Soaking

After a Brazilian wax, the pores are widely opened and is more prone for the bacteria to enter. Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid steam, sauna, and jacuzzi which can disturb the skin. It’s fine to shower but avoid hot baths, pools, and beaches as the chlorine and bacteria from it can cause irritation and infection. Whether it’s your first time or not, it’s wise to follow these simple tips.

Do Not Apply Body Lotion Until The Redness Completely Goes Away

A sensitized skin normally shows redness and applying a lotion can make it worse, especially if it has fragrance in it. To avoid making matters worse, apply body lotion only if the redness completely subsides.

Do Not Have Sex After A Brazilian Wax

Your skin is already irritated and causing more friction can only make it worse. Wait for around 24-48 hours and give your skin enough time to heal before you start making love again.

Exfoliate

As mentioned, ingrown hair can still happen when you choose to wax as your hair removal method but you can avoid it through exfoliation. Use a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and ingrown hair three days after your session. You can use a loofah or a body scrub to do this. This is an important after-care step to keep your skin healthy, smooth, and smooth.

How Long Before You Get Your Next Wax

Normally, we require our clients to come back every four to six weeks after the first session. However, this depends on how fast the pubic hair grows. Every person has their own hair growth cycle; some can enjoy the results of hair removal in just a couple of weeks while others can be hair-free for a month. Nonetheless, the results are long-lasting than shaving.

Pros and Cons Of Brazilian

WaxLike other hair removal method, waxing also comes with its own set of pros and cons. The thing is, you just have to weigh its benefits compared to its drawbacks.

Advantages Of A Wax

You’re Hair-Free For A Long Time

Shaving is a waste of grooming time — we all know that! After a day or two, tiny, thick hairs would come out and the worse part is that it’s itchy! Thank heavens, there’s wax hair removal! With a wax, you can expect your hair to grow after a full week, some can even go hair-free for a month! Again, it all depends on your hair growth cycle.

Your Hair Will Grow Thinner And Finer

The hair will grow differently, even after your first wax. You’ll notice that it’s not as thick as before and if you go on with the next sessions, it will be thinner; some patches of hair may even stop growing! Just remember to ditch shaving or else, your hair will be thick again and the next session will be as painful as the first time.

You Can Treat This As A “Pamper Moment”

With shaving, you need to do it yourself and that’s a bit challenging when you’re using it on the inner part of your vagina. You need to crouch or be patient or else, you might cut yourself. Wax hair removal, on the other hand, is sort of pampering especially since all you need to do is lay back and let someone do the work! The best part is — it saves you grooming time since you don’t have to do it every other day.

You Can Avoid Black Stubble

After shaving, you may have noticed a black stubble left on your skin. It’s harmless but annoying and may decrease your confidence especially when wearing a tank top. With waxing, you can eliminate this and may even make your skin softer and lighter — thanks to the exfoliation effect!

Disadvantages

You Need To Spend Money

Same as with shaving, you need to spend money to get their service; the difference is that it is expensive. First, you’re paying for the service offered by a trained professional, plus the overhead costs, the products, etc. The location, type of facility, and the waxing salon’s target market also affect the rate of their service.

You Need To Grow Your Hair First Before The Session

One of the pros of waxing is that you need you to need to grow your hair for about quarter of an inch first. This is a big no-no if you don’t want to see any hair down there. However, this is a must so that the wax can have something to hold onto. If you feel like shaving it, just remember the difference a wax can make — smoother, softer hair!

You Can Get Scarring Or Burns

Wax hair removal is painful — not only because of the ripping part but with the hot wax used on your intimate section. Although this rarely happens, your skin can still get burns from hot wax, especially if your therapist is not good. Eventually, this burns can turn to scars. Yikes!

Where To Get It

We know you’re excited to have your first Brazilian wax session or your new waxing salon buddy, but before you book an appointment, it’s important to choose the right facility. Are you sure that you are in a clean and safe environment?

One of the most important things you should consider when choosing a waxing salon is the facility. Make sure that it is clean and sanitized. Go for a facility which only hires certified estheticians with proper training and experience, unless you want your vajayjay to be a guinea pig. As possible, you want that delicate area treated properly and there’s no better way to guarantee that than working with the right professionals.

It’s also worth considering the types of wax they use, post-waxing procedures involved, etc. Ask as much wax-related questions as you can until you’re comfortable. After all, you’ll be dealing with the results for a few weeks or even a month.
