Chemical Peel Santee
What is a facial peel? Many people confuse it with a facial, but chemical peels and facials are different. A chemical peel can help improve skin appearance by using a chemical solution. The chemical solution is applied to the skin and in many cases depending on the strength of the solution the skin might peel off. These chemical peel treatments are safe for most skin types, but when taking strong acne medication, other skin medication, or sunburned, the peel in some cases may not be applied. Talk to our esthetician to get the best options for your chemical peel treatment plans. Even though the word acid might sound frightening, beauty chemical peels are safe and can greatly help your skin appearance. At Waxing and Skincare by Celeste, peels are only a part of our skin care treatment services we offer at our spa!
SANTEE CHEMICAL PEELS
There are two types of acids you will hear when talking about to chemical peels. One is Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and the other is Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). The major differences are alpha hydroxy acids are water-soluble and beta hydroxy acid is (oil) lipid-soluble. This simply means that beta hydroxy acids are able to penetrate the pores which contain oils (sebum) and exfoliate dead skin cells that clog the pores. When getting a chemical peel at our Santee spa, we will let you know which type of acid we will be using so just ask us!
ALPHA HYDROXY ACID FOR CHEMICAL PEELS
Alpha Hydroxy Acid is what is most used in the beauty industry today for peels. Alpha hydroxy acid is usually found in concentrations of 4% or lower for over the counter skincare products. Alpha Hydroxy Acids are usually derived from fruit. For example, glycolic acids come from sugar cane, lactic acid comes from sour milk, malic acid comes from apples, citric acid comes from fruits, and tartaric acid comes from grape wine. These different acids have different molecular sizes with Glycolic acid having the smallest, therefore it is more widely used for its ability to penetrate the top layer of skin. The most popular Alpha Hydroxy Acids are Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Kojic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid. At Waxing & Skincare by Celeste, we use Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Latic Acid, and Kojic Acid. Many of these acids are rarely used alone so many times a blend of the acids is preferred. Each type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid has its own beneficial properties allowing each treatment to address more than one issue. Alpha hydroxy acids are good at making your skin peel. Alpha Hydroxy Acids get rid of the outermost layer of the skin called stratum corneum, therefore getting the name peel for these type of skincare treatments. By getting rid of the top layer of skin, Alpha Hydroxy Acids allows your skin to produce a new top layer of skin making the skin look more appealing.
BETA HYDROXY ACID FOR CHEMICAL PEELS
Beta Hydroxy Acid is better used for people with oily skin that have whiteheads or blackheads. There is only one type of Beta Hydroxy Acid use in skincare and t is salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is used today in many skincare products usually having a very low concentration of 2% or lower. Salicylic acid skin treatments are often used for acne treatment. Salicylic acid treatment usually uses a maximum concentration of 30%. Many time your esthetician might start you with salicylic acid with a 10% concentration and gradually move up to 30% to prevent any reactions. Having a good esthetician who uses this type of skincare judgment is important in order to prevent permanent skin damage. At Waxing and Skincare by Celeste spa, the only face peel we offer is with salicylic acid which is perfect for acne treatment.
PUMPKIN AND FRUIT ENZYMES
First off what in the world is an enzyme? An enzyme is a protein molecule that speeds up reaction time up to a million times faster than without an enzyme. A simple explanation is the breaking down of lactase. We all have heard of lactose intolerant, but what exactly does that mean. The sugar in the milk is called lactose and in order for the body to properly digest this sugar, an enzyme is needed to break it down into glucose. There is an enzyme called lactase that breaks down lactose into glucose then allows the body to consume the glucose. Essentially the enzyme (lactase) speeds up the breakdown of lactose. In skincare, some of these enzymes derived from fruit (pumpkin included) are used to “peel” the skin. The enzyme helps to break down the first layer of skin which allows natural anti-oxidants, vitamins, and nutrients to penetrate the skin. Pumpkin peels and other natural fruit treatments are safe and can show great results. These fruit-based enzyme peels provide amazing results when combined with microdermabrasion skincare treatment.
Can Men Get A Skin Peel Too?
Yes 100% they can get peels too! We love our men! We one of Santee’s top spa destination for men’s skin care peel treatments.
How Much Does A Chemical Peel Cost at Your Spa?
We do offer several options when it comes to chemical peel cost, but our starting price is $85 and goes up depending on what services you are getting. Simply search for chemical peel near me and you can start to compare our prices with other spas. Always ensure you have the right info when booking a peel and make sure you compare apples to apples!
How Long Does A Chemical Peel Peel For?
That will depend on the type of peel you are getting. Normally when you start getting peels, we will apply a peel that is less potent. Peeling (flaking skin) is not something that always happens. This will really depend on the intensity of your peel which again for our 1st time clients we don’t offer that service for you. To get stronger peel we need to build you up. If you do peel, it can last 1-4 days. Always keep our Santee spa updated on your progress or if you have any concerns.
Is A Chemical Peel Worth It?
That really depends up to you. Are you looking for corrective skin care? Are you trying to correct something? If you are, then we say yes! Just be advised the damage you get over the years is not corrected with one treatment. It takes time, dedication and several treatments in order to achieve you skin care goals. Chemical peels are also a great way for preventive skin care as well and we do see many people at our Santee spa who just want to stay on top of their skin! overview, spa

What Our Clients Say
“Definitely not going anywhere else. This place is the best. From the service itself to the front desk
“This place is amazing! I got my first Brazilian wax ever done by Kristine who was so nice and talked me through everything. And then just recently had my second wax by Marcela and she was incredibly sweet. Both were very detailed and took their time to make sure everything was perfect. I will definitely be returning here for future waxes.“
“I went there for the first time to get my second Brazilian ever and I loved it! Their staff is very friendly and they definitely know what they’re doing. I can confirm they use good quality products as my skin felt smooth and perfect afterward. I’ll be a regular and would totally recommend!“
“Hands down one of the best skincare and waxing spas. I was able to make my appointment within an hour of my call and the staff was professional and polite. My esthetician, Marcela, was awesome. She made sure I was comfortable and she was very particular. You can tell she is a perfectionist and loves her job“
“Celeste is so sweet. I had only gotten waxed a couple of times before meeting her and was always uncomfortable with it. Once I started going here so made me feel at ease and I go every 4-5 weeks now (that’s huge for me!). Her location is super cute and in a convenient location. She is quick and gets the job done in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend going there for any facials or waxing needs.“
“My first time going in for a Brazilian! I was very nervous and worried about how much it was going to hurt! The staff was extremely helpful and Celeste made the process go as smoothly as possible. Very knowledgeable and kept my mind off the waxing 🙂 Of course it hurt, but was tolerable. I will definitely be going in again to see Celeste. I definitely recommend checking them out.“
